On-premise: maximum control – but also maximum responsibility.
Especially when it comes to critical processes, operating your own infrastructure can be a decisive advantage.
The systems run in your own data center. Access, networks, and security measures are controlled in-house. The data remains within the company and can be kept strictly isolated.
This provides:
- Control
- Data sovereignty
- Independence
- Security
- Resilience against external outages
However, on-premises also means that you must build, operate, and secure the necessary infrastructure yourself. Redundancies, backups, updates, monitoring, and qualified personnel are your own responsibility.
And while control is high, flexibility remains limited: New capacity, technical upgrades, or changing requirements often cannot be implemented on short notice.
For which processes do you believe full control is essential? And at what point does the reduced flexibility become a challenge?
In the next part of our series, we’ll take a closer look at the cloud model.
