On-Premise, Cloud or Hybrid

Three statements. Three different perspectives. One open question.

When companies in the critical infrastructure sector refine their IT strategies, sooner or later they face the same fundamental question: on-premises, cloud, or a hybrid operating model?

How much infrastructure does a company want to build and operate itself? Which responsibilities should remain in-house? What levels of dependency are acceptable? And how can the costs of different models even be fairly compared when they arise in entirely different ways?

  • Perhaps there is a clear strategic direction.
  • Perhaps the answer depends on the specific process.
  • Perhaps it’s not the chosen model that matters most, but rather how it is implemented and secured.

We’d like to examine these questions from various angles in our new series of articles.

To begin, we’re interested in your perspective: Which of these statements would you agree with – and why?
